Two Team GAIN riders nominated to represent Ireland in eventing at Rio Olympics

Two Team GAIN riders ; Jonty Evans and Padraig Mc Carthy have been nominated to represent Ireland at the 2016 summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Following the qualification of an Eventing Team (4) at the World Equestrian Games 2014 – Horse Sport Ireland’s Eventing Team Manager Nick Turner has put forward Jonty Evans with Cooley Rorke’s Drift (ISH) and Padraig McCarthy with Simon Porloe.

Clare Abbott with Europrince and Mark Kyle with Jemilla are the two other nominated team  members with Camilla Speirs and Portersize Just A Jiff  named as  travelling reserve.

Speaking after the announcement Nick Turner said:

“This has been a very difficult decision to make as there have been an impressive number of combinations who have produced some fantastic results to date. We will be fielding a very competitive squad in Rio. I would like to thank all of the owners that made their horses available for selection. We will be working hard over the next 57 days in the lead up to the Summer Olympic Games in Rio to content for a podium finish.”
