The Group One GAIN Irish St Leger at the Curragh on Sunday

The Group One Gain Irish St. Leger will take place this Sunday at the Curragh Racecourse. A total of 18 horses will be running in the race which will include Royal Diamond and Brown Panther, who were first and third respectively in last year’s GAIN Irish St Leger. Royal Diamond could give his trainer, Johnny Murtagh his first Irish Classic win as a trainer. Brown Panther who carries the colours of Michael Owen will try and reverse the odds from last years race by hopefully winning the Classic race.

Brown Panther is one of seven overseas entries for the race, the others being Ahzeemah, Aiken, Caravan Rolls On, Red Cadeaux, Lady Kashaan and the Lady Cecil-trained Wild Coco. Ernest Hemingway, Chamonix, Leading Light and Victory Song are the four Aidan O’Brien-trained entries, while the David Wachman-trained Galileo Rock has also been left in the race.

The first race will start at 1:45 pm on Sunday with the Gain Irish St. Leger off at 3:50 pm.

Mike Denver will also be performing after the races on Sunday from 5:30pm.

The race day will also feature an attempt to create an Irish record on the race day for the most people to take part in a Line Dance which will be performed on the racetrack in front of the grandstand. Participants are being encouraged to embrace the initiative by dressing country style. There is no age limit to take part and people do not have to have any line dancing experience at all.  However, participants must register in advance at and the registration closes on Friday, 13th September.

There will also be a GAIN/Alltech Most Stylish Lady Competition on Sunday with a spectacular VIP trip to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian GamesTM 2014 in Normandy, France next summer going to the winner.

So why not head down to the Curragh Racecourse this Sunday for brilliant racing and a great family day out.
