Nick Skelton and Big Star win Individual Gold at Rio
Nick Skelton, a veteran of seven Olympic Games, claimed gold in the Individual Showjumping with Big Star after winning a six-way jump-off in Rio.
Skelton had produced two clear rounds to secure his place among the riders set to fight it out in the jump-off. In the jump-off, The Team Great Britain rider recorded another flawless round with Big Star to set the standard, stopping the clock at a time of 42.82 seconds.
Skelton who was first to go had to watch on as his rivals failed to match his performance with Peder Fredricson of Sweden taking silver, while Canada’s Lamaze claimed bronze.
