GAIN continue sponsorship of the GAIN Railway Stakes
GAIN Horse Feeds are delighted to extend their support of the Curragh Racecourse by continuing to sponsor the GAIN Railway Stakes for 2016. The Group 2 contest for two year olds takes place on Saturday 25th June, as one of the feature races on Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Day.
Philip Gilligan, Acting Country Manager, GAIN Horse Feeds commented:
“We have a long standing relationship with the Curragh Racecourse and, we are delighted to continue our sponsorship of the prestigious Group 2 GAIN Railway Stakes. We believe that this partnership reinforces our commitment to both the racing and bloodstock industries, whilst supporting our customers and the industry at large. We wish all connections the very best of luck on the day”.
First run in 1851, the race has consistently been one of the top races of the season for some of Europe’s best juveniles and has been won in recent times by subsequent Group 1 winners including Mastercraftsman, Sudirman, George Washington, Holy Roman Emperor and Rock of Gibraltar. The Aidan O’Brien trained Painted Cliffs landed the race in 2015 under Ryan Moore.
Fifty nine entries feature in the race following the recent first entry stage and include Caravaggio who won impressively at the Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival, for Aidan O’Brien, while Ed Dunlop’s Global Applause is a notable entry from the UK. Curragh based trainer Ken Condon is responsible for two entries, which includes Magnification, who finished second at the Curragh on Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas day.
Evan Arkwright, Commercial Manager of the Curragh Racecourse commented:
The Curragh has enjoyed a very positive partnership with GAN since 2012 and we are delighted that they have agreed to extend their sponsorship of the Railway Stakes again this year. The race has consistently attracted some of the best two year olds in Europe, many who have gone onto Group One success.
