FANTASTIC RESULTS AT THE EUROPEAN SHOWJUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS

It was a fantastic weekend for Irish Show Jumping as the Gain Horse feeds Junior (U18) and Young Rider (U21) teams won Silver and Bronze medals at European Championships.

The Junior team of Philip Carey, Susan Fitzpatrick, Anna Carway and Cormac Hanley took the Team Silver medal following a jump off with Great Britain who had make do with Bronze. The Gold medal went to Germany. Twenty one nations took part.

The Young Rider team of Eoin Mc Mahon, Michael G. Duffy, Michael Duffy and Jonathon Gordon took the Bronze medal following a three way jump off for the Silver medal with Germany and Great Britain. Germany took the Silver with Ireland taking Bronze and Belgium the Gold. Fourteen nations competed for medals.

Thirteen year-old Jennifer Kuehnle added to Ireland’s haul of non-senior European medals when she took Gold in the Children On Horses Final. Delivering two perfect rounds on Chaitanya 2, Jennifer then went into a jump-off against the clock with three other riders. With a time that was well over a second sharper than her nearest rival, Calvin Bockmann on Cavello Z, ensured a Gold for Ireland.

Congratulations to all the teams and Chef d’Equipe for both teams Comdt John Ledingham. The Children, Junior and Young Rider HSI High Performance committee consisted of Comdt. Ledingham, James Kernan (chair), Michael Blake and Sally Ann Tobin.
